Longstanding Stella McCartney president Frederick Lukoff has quit the luxury brand to join Dutch brand Scotch & Soda as CEO.

Lukoff oversaw Stella McCartney's buyout of the 50% stake in the company controlled by luxury group Kering last year, and had been with the company for a decade.

He joins Scotch & Soda on 1 September and his appointment follows the news earlier this year that the company's current, Dirk-Jan Stoppelenburg, would be stepping into the role of chairman.

“I am absolutely delighted to be joining Scotch & Soda and working together with the team to continue the international success story of this amazing Dutch fashion brand,” Lukoff, who was born in Holland, said.

Stoppelenburg added: “I am delighted to announce the appointment of Frederick as my successor. Frederick has built a highly successful career in fashion, demonstrating his strong understanding of brands and creativity.”

Scotch & Soda was founded in 1985 and has 250 owned stores and 8,000 doors globally. Its sales are around €325m, around twice that of Stella McCartney.

Lukoff joined Stella McCartney as CEO in February 2009. Prior to that he held senior roles at Lanvin, Paco Rabanne and Courrèges.
