Stella McCartney calls for us to 'come together' at Paris Fashion Week show

Chloe Burney

Stella McCartney doesn’t just put on a fashion show, she stages manifestos. For Spring/Summer 2026, the designer transformed the Centre Pompidou into a meeting point for activism and cutting-edge innovation.

Helen Mirren, who narrated the lyrics to The Beatles’ "Come Together", opened the show, setting the tone for a collection that was less about fleeting trends and more about rewriting fashion’s playbook in service of humanity, animals and Mother Earth.

Stella McCartney's Spring-Summer season is a study in contrasts. Think masculine yet feminine, ethereal yet grounded. That dichotomy was woven into architectural tailoring, fluid eveningwear and utilitarian cargos. All, of course, underpinned by a 98% conscious material base and her commitment to 100% cruelty-free design. Leather, feathers, fur and exotics remain firmly off the table, instead, the designer focuses on future-facing material science.

Two innovations stole the spotlight. Fevvers, a plant-based feather alternative, appeared light and layered on corseted gowns, proving glamour can be cruelty-free. Meanwhile, Pure.Tech, a programmable fabric capable of absorbing pollutants like CO₂ and NOx, made its debut in deconstructed denim. It’s the kind of breakthrough that makes McCartney not only a designer, but a disruptor of what luxury fashion can (and should) be.

As for accessories, house icons underwent updaes, such as the utility inspired Ryder tote, new woven leather-free alternatives for the Falabella, and recycled Dartmoor bags. Footwear ranged from Elyse platforms reborn in raffia and reconstructed denim, to loafers in vegan leather.

Where many luxury houses are only now dipping into sustainability talking points, Stella is reminding us she’s been building this world for decades.

The collection will be available globally from January 2026 in boutiques, at stellamccartney.com and select retailers.
