SportsShoes strengthens leadership team with former Asics CEO

The Shipley-based sports retailer SportsShoes has hired former Asics EMEA Chief Executive Officer Alistair Cameron as a non-executive director.

Cameron had previously been with Asics for 10 years, where he doubled the company's revenues to £700 million. Prior to that held leadership positions at New Balance, Speedo and premium outdoor brand Haglöfs.

SportsShoes is specialist running and fitness retailer in the UK that stocks over 9,000 products, with the business seeing an increase in sales of 37% (£92.2m) in the year ending 28 February 2021.

UK sales were up 11.9% year-on-year, whilst repeat business from existing customers had also increased by 20%.
