SportsShoes.com launches mobile app to deliver "best-in-class" retail experience

SportsShoes.com has launched its first-ever mobile app to deliver an enhanced retail experience for its customers, which it is calling "best-in-class".

The app has been developed by specialist sports retailer solution provider, One iota, and the launch forms part of the online running shoes, running clothing and outdoor gear retailer’s "ongoing strategic expansion plans".

In the app, customers can access personalised product and content suggestions that are unique to them and based on previous activity and preferences, with a standard shopping feed as a secondary option.

The platform also integrates customer membership options throughout the shopping journey, including the ability for users to sync their England Athletics profile with their SportsShoes.com account.

This will help combine their running and fitness data with their shopping habits to provide a more bespoke retail experience. It will also mean content suggestions will be even more tailored to each individual user.

Development of the app has been supported by £4.6 million the retailer has invested in the last three years in its technologies, people, processes and facilities.

To celebrate the launch, SportsShoes.com is running a raffle where users have a chance to win training packages and head-to-toe kit from brand partners including New Balance, Asics, Salomon, Adidas and Garmin.

Bannister added: "To celebrate the launch with our customers and the wider athlete community, we wanted to give them a chance at winning some amazing prizes including expert coaching sessions and kit from high quality brands.

"We’re very grateful to our brand partners for supporting this launch competition and we look forward to announcing the winners as we mark this new chapter in SportsShoes.com’s growth journey."

Alongside the app launch, SportsShoes.com has also re-platformed its UK and international websites to provide customers with an improved online purchasing experience with "increased levels of personalisation across both product discovery and advice".

Established in 1982, SportsShoes.com offers customers more than 17,000 products from 150 global running and outdoor brands. From a running perspective they include Asics, Nike, Adidas, Hoka and New Balance, while for outdoor gear there’s the likes of Haglöfs, Montane, Rab and Patagonia.
