Sports Direct opens Newbridge store
Sports Direct, owned by Frasers Group, has announced the opening of its latest store in Newbridge, Ireland.
Located at the Whitewater Shopping Centre, the new 22,000 sq ft store features a range of menswear, womenswear and kidswear sports items, along with dedicated areas for running, football and outdoors.
The store opening follows the announcement of Frasers Group joining the Whitewater Shopping Centre, occupying two levels of retail space. Sports Direct has opened on the upper level.
Ingrid Ryan, General Manager of Whitewater Shopping Centre, said: “We welcome this significant development for the centre, especially at a time when bricks and mortar retail has been challenged by both the pandemic and the changing face of retail.
"A letting of this scale is a fantastic boost for Whitewater. The new department store includes Sports Direct on the upper level and on the lower level there will be a broad offering of departments which will open early 2022."
Whitewater Shopping Centre is Ireland’s largest regional shopping centre. The centre has over 70 high end stores, restaurants and cafes, as well as a six screen cinema.
