Sosandar reports ‘significant’ golden quarter sales uplift and plans for two new stores

Womenswear brand Sosandar has reported revenues of £12.2 million for the three months ending 31 December 2024, with an increase in margins and net cash of £8.2 million allowing the group to "self-fund planned store roll out".

Adding to its existing stores at the Grand Arcade in Cardiff, Metrocentre in Gateshead and stores in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, and Chelmsford in Essex – which both opened in September 2024 – Sosandar has now signed lease agreements for two new stores, in Bath and Harrogate.

Sosandar also expects revenues for the full year ending 31 March 2025 to hit £40.5m million with profit before tax of £1 million.

While revenue of £12.2 million for Q3 FY25 compared unfavourably to £14.3 million for Q3 FY24, Sosandar continued its transition away from price promotion activity, meaning gross margin of 64.7% increased significantly from 58.3% in the prior year, "reflecting margin enhancement prioritisation".

It also represented an increase of approximately 50% against each of the previous quarters (Q1 and Q2 FY25), a "significant step up" in comparison to the prior year when Q3 FY24 revenues increased against each of Q1 and Q2 FY24 by 25% and 31%. respectively.

In the lead up to Christmas, Sosandar saw strong sales of partywear as well as particularly strong sales in its core categories of knitwear and denim.

Additionally, trading with the company's well-established third-party partners continued to be strong, with the success of its product resulting in Sosandar being one of the top-selling brands across all third-party partners, including NEXT and M&S.

Sosandar’s four existing stores also all performed well over the period, with “strong footfall and conversion and a demonstrable uplift in traffic” to Sosandar’s website in the geographical areas where the stores have opened.
