Sloane Street promises luxury experience from 15 June

Sloane Street, one of London's most prestigious shopping addresses, is promising a luxury experience when its stores open their doors from 15 June.

Brands on the street, such as Hermes, Balenciaga, Louis Vuitton and Fendi have worked closely with the estate manager Cadogan on a range of unique and "carefully considered" measures that prioritise the health and wellbeing of staff and visitors, but also provide an elevated experience.

Sloane Street's wide pavements make for easier social distancing and now have vinyl markings to direct shopper flow. When shoppers arrive in-store special touches, such as sanitising hand gels made from the luxury houses' own fragrance factories will be made available.

Boutiques will initially open with reduced trading hours and limited customer capacity but private shopping experiences can be booked after hours for a true luxury experience.

Other luxury touches include chauffeur services and kerbside collections allowing for contactless pick-ups with cars permitted to wait up to 20 minutes outside stores on single-yellow lines.

Free home delivery within London is also being offered with some stores offering a consignment services whereby a selection of items are taken to a customers home to try and they only pay for what they keep. "Distance shopping" is also being offered via Zoom, WhatsApp, Facetime or phone call.

Hugh Seaborn, chief executive of Cadogan, said: “Sloane Street has long been recognised internationally as one of the world’s most exclusive fashion shopping destinations providing an impressive range of the world’s most famous luxury brands. As lockdown is gradually released and with the majority of the well known luxury brands re-opening next week, the spacious stores, wide pavements, unhurried environment and ample green space surrounding Sloane Street are naturally conducive to social distancing and safe shopping.

"Whether in store or travelling between them, visitors can be reassured that their experience will be elegant and delightfully uncrowded. As the majority landlord for Sloane Street, public safety is our absolute priority and we have been working actively with the retailers to ensure that the luxury shopping environment and experience is reassuringly safe and uncompromised. As well as extensive safety measures, the luxury brands are extending their exemplary customer service with one to one appointment slots, kerbside collection, live streaming, virtual styling and home delivery.

"Coupled with the newly pedestrianised Pavilion Road that runs parallel, and Duke of York Square, both of which offer a wide range of food and drink, Sloane Street is a compelling proposition for those who wish to venture out for some safe post-confinement luxury retail therapy.”

Sloane Street stretches for 1km connecting Knightsbridge with Chelsea's Sloane Square housing 70 stores; at various points its pavements vary in width from 2.5m to 6m.
