SilkFred planning £100m float

SilkFred, the online platform for independent fashion brands, is reported to be planning a float that would value the business at £100m and deliver a multi-million pound windfall to its 30-year-old founder.

According to The Telegraph SilkFred, which is set to generate sales of £11m, has appointed to Panmure Gordon to work on taking the business public.

The business was founded six years ago by the then 24-year-old Emma Watkinson, who retains a large stake, and former trader Stephen Jackson with £120,000 of seed capital. It recently raised £145,610 through crowdfunding site Crowd Cube to fund international expansion.

SilkFred represents around 400 brands and relies heavily on social for marketing and to generate sales. Brands on the site include Lilah Rose, Never Fully Dressed, Marc Angelo and Jovonna London.
