Shoe Zone launches new app as it expands omnichannel strategy

Value footwear retailer Shoe Zone has launched a new app offering "an enhanced personalised shopping experience", with exclusive discounts and improved functionality for browsing on the go, as it further develops its omnichannel strategy.

The new app has been developed in conjunction with Leicester-based mobile app developers, Swipe & Tap, and includes wishlist functions and an interactive returns portal. The app is now available to shoppers on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

The move from the retailer comes as data reveals almost half of UK shoppers use retail apps as their primary way to shop. Globally, mobile commerce accounted for over half of all online retail sales last year. The introduction of Shoe Zone’s newest mobile platform aims to capitalise on the growing app market.

Customers will be able to choose from a wide selection of own and name-brand styles and the app features the same intuitive filtering functions as Shoe Zone’s website, allowing customers to search products by different promotions. That includes Shoe Zone’s ongoing ‘2 pairs of shoes for £10’ and an extensive clearance outlet section.

Shoe Zone’s express delivery service - offering free next day delivery at no minimum spend - is also fully integrated into the app.

A Shoe Zone spokesperson said: "It’s exciting to officially launch our Shoe Zone app, and ensure all shoppers have easy access to affordable footwear.

"We believe it’s our responsibility to ensure customers have the same outstanding shopping experience that you’d expect in a Shoe Zone store."

The launch comes following Shoe Zone’s financial results in January 2025, which saw profit before tax fall to £10.1 million for the 52 weeks ending 28 September 2024, compared to £16.2 million in the previous year, in what it described as "a year of two halves".

Total revenue reduced by 2.7% to £163.3 million, compared to £165.7 million in 2023, trading out of 26 fewer stores.

Digital revenues increased by 13.9% to £35.2 million, versus £30.9 million in the previous year, driven by an increase in conversion due to the introduction of free next day delivery on all Shoe Zone online orders and "strong Amazon sales".
