US-based logistics company ShipBob has announced that it aims to increase its operations in the UK to at least five e-commerce fulfilment centres in 2022, as part of its larger expansion plans into Europe.

Founded in 2014 in Chicago, the company already operates two fulfilment centres in the UK, in Feltham and Heywood, as well as one in Ireland and 23 more across the United States, Canada and Australia.

The company is set to open a total of 20 fulfilment centres in Europe by 2023, focusing on servicing small to medium sized brands (SMEs).

Alongside enhancing domestic deliveries, ShipBob will offer British brands instant access to consumers across the North American market and the ability to ship to US shoppers within days.

Business Minister Paul Scully said: “This investment is a vote of confidence in the UK economy. I know our nation of creators and entrepreneurs will relish the prospect of easier access to customers abroad, helping them to export, grow and create more jobs along the way.”
