Shein expands Xcelerator programme in UK after 'successful' trial
Shein has announced the UK expansion of its Xcelerator initiative, a scheme aimed at supporting the international growth of both emerging and established fashion labels.
The expansion builds on the company’s existing Shein X programme, which launched in 2021 as a designer incubator for new artists and fashion designers, and has since partnered with thousands of designers to help bring their collections to market.
Following a successful trial, the UK-based Xcelerator aims to support brands in navigating key challenges within the fashion value chain, including supply chain logistics and market access.
As part of this, participants gain access to a range of direct-to-consumer services, such as on-demand production, product fulfilment, and Shein's global e-commerce infrastructure.
These services are intended to help brands enhance their operational strategies and expand internationally, while continuing to focus on their creative direction.
Donald Tang, Executive Chairman of Shein, said: "With Shein Xcelerator, we aim to empower brands of every size to achieve their global ambitions.
"This is a win–win, with systemic impact delivered across the industry: supporting creativity, strengthening ecosystems, and enabling more brands to thrive worldwide."
The pilot phase of the Xcelerator began in August 2023. Since then, nearly 20 brands from various regions have joined the initiative, collectively generating close to £300 million in revenue and achieving an average sales growth of 190% in their first year.
One of the most notable outcomes from the initial cohort is the relaunch of the Missguided brand. Since joining the programme, Missguided is projected to reach £200 million in revenue within two years.
Other participating brands include Sumwon Studios - a fashion group founded in 2023 by Missguided’s founder, Nitin Passi, and home to its flagship label Sumwon - as well as London-based brands Cosmina and Athiral.
Shein has also today announced a new partnership with the French fashion brand Pimkie, as the Xcelerator also expands to other global markets.
