Sheffield's Meadowhall lights up for city's Pride celebrations

10 July 2018

Sheffield's supermall Meadowhall has been illuminated with the rainbow colours of the LGBT flag ahead of the city's Pride event, which takes place on 28 July.

Officially switched on last night, the illuminations are a first for the centre and mark the official start of its Pride fundraising activities. The centre, which has a distinctive glass roof, is visible from the M1 and will be illuminated every evening ahead of the event.

Photographer James Marshall captured the colourful spectacular using a camera mounted on a drone.

Sheffield Meadowhall is owned by British Land and has recently undergone a £60m revamp while a further £40m has been invested by brands on their stores.

New brands added during the refurb include the first-ever physical store for online retailer Joe Browns, as well as Michael Kors, Flannels, Urban Decay, Skinny Dip, Tag Heuer, iSmash, Diesel, Joules, Jack Wills, Neal’s Yard, Nespresso, T2, schuh Kids, Pret a Manger, GBK, Barburrito, and Tapas Revolution.
