Sheertex has opened a pop-up on Carnaby Street, bringing the world of rip-resistant tights to London’s iconic shopping destination for two weeks.

Following the success of their New York pop-up, Sheertex is opening a space in London at 29 Carnaby Street. It will run from 10 February to 26 February, giving visitors two weeks to shop the range of tights that use patent-pending technology.

Hailing from Montreal in Canada, Sheertex tights can handle tugging, pulling, and nail-snagging without ending up in the bin after a couple of wears. The one-of-a-kind super tights have undergone and withstood unique durability tests, from being stuffed with pineapples and conch shells to fire extinguishers.

The London pop-up will offer five best-selling styles including the Classic Sheer Rip Resist Tights, Shaping Sheer Rip Resist Tights, Super-Sheer Rip-Resist Tights, and two surprise patterned pairs.

Each style is available in inclusive sizing from XS to 3XL (sizes 4 – 24) and feature a wide yoga-style waistband, a unique cooling feel, and patent-pending knit technology.

Entrepreneur Katherine Homuth created the technology after becoming increasingly frustrated with hosiery’s lack of durability. She developed it over a period of two years, researching to find one of the world’s strongest polymers.

Homuth utilises a polymer that is used to create bullet-proof vests and mountaineering equipment, blending it with nylon and lycra so that it looks and feels like traditional sheer hosiery.

The company uses 99% renewable hydro-energy when crafting the tights and ships them in compostable and recyclable packaging. It is currently researching future ways of recycling used tights, separating the materials and feeding them back into their manufacturing process.
