Sergio Tacchini celebrates 60 years with limited-edition collector’s boxes

Italian sportswear brand Sergio Tacchini is launching two limited-edition collector’s boxes - one with a polo shirt and socks, and the other with a track top and headband - in celebration of its 60th anniversary.

The boxes will be available from 5pm today, 26 March, from 80s Casual Classics, and shortly after from Stuarts London, Modfather, RD1 Clothing, and other selected retailers.

Both the ‘Young Line’ polo shirt, the style worn by John McEnroe in the late 70s and early 80s, and the ‘Capomasters’ track top from the same era, have been revisited in a more premium 100% cotton knit fabric than the original designs.

Both pieces come in a navy and white colourway (white with navy for the polo and navy with white for the track top), feature custom back neck labels, and have ‘60 anni di sport’ (60 years of sport) embroidered on the right chest, marking 60 years of Sergio Tacchini, which was founded in Novara, Italy, by the Italian tennis champion of the same name in 1966.

The brand was originally established to introduce colour and innovative fabrics to tennis sportswear, departing from the traditional all-white attire of the era.

Inside the custom presentation boxes, of which there are 400 of each, is a postcard from Novara as well as an anniversary sticker.

Mark Regan, Sales Manager at Sergio Tacchini UK/Batra Group, said: “Celebrating 60 years is a significant milestone for the brand, so we wanted to create something that felt worthy of that moment.

“The knitted track top and polo are two of our most iconic silhouettes, rooted in our tennis heritage and carried through into culture over time. Both are finished with ‘60 anni di sport’ (60 years in sport) embroidery and presented within a limited anniversary box - with only 400 available (of each) and designed as a collector’s piece to mark this moment in the brand’s history.”
