Selfridges brings tenniscore back with Lacoste's help

Selfridges London has teamed up with French sportswear brand Lacoste to confirm that tennis core is still all the rage when it comes to summer dressing.

The partnership champions a summer of tennis, with Lacoste making itself at home on second floor atrium at Selfridges. In addition, for a full takeover, the brand is transforming the Alto by San Carlo rooftop restaurant into Le Club Lacoste.

“We have decided to associate our iconic brand with the power of Selfridges, repeatedly recognized as the best department store in the world. We share a strong affinity for creativity and innovation,” said Catherine Spindler, Deputy CEO of Lacoste told WWD.

“This year, associating Lacoste with the summer of sport theme is a natural fit and perfectly aligns with our brand’s codes. It is also, and above all, a beautiful setting to showcase our collection from our latest fall 2024 fashion show”, she added.

In 2023, the department store partnered with Lacoste to celebrate its 90th anniversary. The new collection holds just as much weight, marking its Creative Director Pelagia Kolotouros’ debut. In February, the new Creative Director's appointment was announced only weeks after Louise Trotter stepped down from the role.

As for its takeover of Alto by San Carlo, tennis core cocktails will be up for grabs including the Rene, Cucumber Deuce and Match Point Spritz. The terrace will house digital screens where visitors can watch Wimbledon live until it ends on 14 July.
