Founder of the awards Dr Tessa Hartmann says, “We started this event in 2006 at Stirling Castle in the Highlands where a handful of fashion editors and industry players navigated the historic cobblestones and celebrated Scotland’s most fashionable Scots. Christopher Kane scooped Graduate of the Year and look where he is now. We honestly never imagined we would start a movement. A movement where suddenly the Scots had a voice in fashion, a platform where we could showcase the emerging innovators as well as some of the leaders of the world’s luxury fashion houses. The common denominator? Scottish blood, insatiable energy, drive, hunger to succeed and all vying to place their fashionable footprints in this highly competitive market sector. We see it as our role to continue to showcase Scotland’s fashion innovators and introduce them to a bigger and more influential audience like the ones we attract to London, the UK’s fashion capital.”
Industry founder Courtney Blackman adds, “I’m really excited to be judging the 10th annual Scottish Fashion Awards. The Scottish Fashion Awards are hugely important as they shine a spotlight on Scotland and its global-reaching creative heavyweights like Christopher Kane, Jonathan Saunders and Holly Fulton. The event raises the profile of not just Scotland, but the UK as a whole, as a serious contender within the worldwide fashion economy."
In true Scottish Fashion Awards style, a pampering suite will get VIP guests red carpet-ready with help from Toni & Guy, Debenhams Beauty, BareMinerals, Liquid Gold Prosecco, Deeside Natural Mineral Water, Caorunn Gin, Designs by M, Proper Corn and Maserati will be driving key attendees to the event via their luxury fleet.
