Schuh taps ex-Nike and Urban Outfitters marketer to sharpen Gen-Z focus
Footwear retailer Schuh has appointed Laura King as Chief Marketing Officer, signalling a renewed "ambition to be an unrivalled fashion footwear destination for Gen-Z and Gen-Alpha".
King joins the business with immediate effect, bringing more than 20 years of experience across brand and agency roles at the intersection of fashion, sport and youth culture. Her appointment comes as Schuh looks to accelerate its evolution beyond product-led retail, placing greater emphasis on brand storytelling, community and purpose-led engagement.
Best known for her nine-year tenure at Wieden & Kennedy, where she worked on Nike’s global account, King has also held senior brand marketing roles at Urban Outfitters and Accessorize. Alongside her commercial career, she serves as Vice Chair at Save the Children UK, underscoring a values-driven approach that aligns with Schuh’s positioning around inclusion.
At Schuh, King will oversee marketing, creative, visual merchandising, brand partnerships, purpose, PR, talent and community - a remit that reflects how central brand has become to the retailer’s growth strategy. She joins a leadership team led by Schuh President Colin Temple.
"In an increasingly demanding and fast-paced market, the focus on creating inspiring brand experiences and storytelling for our customers is paramount," said Temple. "I am delighted to have Laura as part of my Leadership Team, bringing deep marketing expertise that will be key to sustaining Schuh’s momentum and growth."
King added: "I’ve always been impressed by its progressive attitude, diverse product range and best-in-class customer service. My goal is to leverage its unique, values-led culture to drive a truly meaningful connection with the youth audience."
