Scamp & Dude selects Harrogate for first permanent store in northern England

British B Corp-certified fashion brand Scamp & Dude will open its first permanent store in northern England at 2-3 James Street, Harrogate, in October 2026.

The two-floor store will provide more than 2,100 sq ft of retail space for the brand’s full womenswear collection, alongside events and community activities. An exact launch date has not yet been confirmed.

Located in a corner unit opposite Harrogate’s mainline railway station, the opening will add to Scamp & Dude’s store network during its 10th anniversary year. The brand currently operates stores across southern England, including at Battersea Power Station.

Founder and CEO Jo Tutchener Sharp OBE said the company had spent more than three years looking for a suitable site in the Yorkshire spa town.

“We've wanted a store in Harrogate for such a long time; it's taken us over three years to find the perfect spot, so it's long overdue, and celebrating our 10th anniversary this year makes the moment even more special,” she said.

“Harrogate is a real gem, and it feels only right that this becomes our permanent home in the North. So many of our community already live nearby, and we know the town has so much to offer those who'll travel that little bit further to find us too.”

A community-led store format

The Harrogate store will include Scamp & Dude’s signature Bolt Room, a large private fitting space that customers can book in advance. Groups will be able to try on collections together, with complimentary refreshments included in the experience.

Scamp & Dude also plans to run a year-round programme of events at the site, although details of the opening programme have not yet been announced.

Its new location gives the retailer a prominent position on one of Harrogate’s main shopping streets, with its proximity to the railway station providing access for customers travelling from Leeds and York, as well as those arriving on direct services from London or Edinburgh.

“The store will bring the very best of our product and experience, and we simply cannot wait to welcome our northern community through the doors,” Tutchener Sharp added.

Scamp & Dude marks 10 years

Tutchener Sharp founded Scamp & Dude in 2016 as she recovered from brain surgery. At the end of last year, the King’s New Year Honours recognised her with an OBE for services to fashion and charity.

The company said it has donated more than £4.4 million in cash and products through its charitable programmes. Its Super Scarf Mission has provided more than 93,000 scarves to women starting chemotherapy, with one donated for each scarf sold.

In November last year, the brand also launched a capsule collection in partnership with cancer care charity Maggie’s. It was inspired and designed by Tutchener Sharp and her close friend of almost 30 years, Charlotte McCarthy, who was diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer in 2024.

More than 10,000 Superhero Sleep Buddies have also been given to children who are seriously ill or have lost a parent.

The expansion follows Scamp & Dude’s recent Swag Bags with Purpose campaign with Davina McCall, Alison Hammond and Kate Lawler. Priced at £28, the co-designed bags generate a £10 donation from every sale for charities selected by the collaborators.
