Savile Row celebrates 50 years of Golden Shears Awards to coincide with LFW
To mark five decades of the prestigious Golden Shears Awards for next generation tailors, Savile Row is hosting a two-week celebration from 15-27 September, coinciding with London Fashion Week 2025 (18-22 September).
Savile Row tailors including Huntsman, Gieves & Hawkes, Henry Poole & Co, Richard James and Dege & Skinner will proudly display work from past entrants and winners of the awards in their windows, while a two-week dedicated exhibition about the Golden Shears Awards - covering its history and past winners - will feature at The London Academy of Bespoke (The LAB) at 19 Savile Row in London.
The showcase will be presented by The Pollen Estate, which is a long-term sponsor of The Golden Shears.
Savile Row Bespoke Chairman, Mark Henderson, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with The Pollen Estate on this project.
“For 50 years the Golden Shears have been a wonderful showcase for the hard work and talent of so many brilliant tailors, and it is wholly fitting that Savile Row should celebrate when so many past winners have either come from apprenticeships on the Row or have found careers here having won.”
Jenny Casebourne, Head of Portfolio of The Pollen Estate, added: “The Pollen Estate is a proud supporter of the Golden Shears. As custodians of Savile Row and surrounding streets, the next generation of tailors are important to our community, and these awards are a testament to craftsmanship.
“We are excited to showcase these talented tailors on Savile Row during London Fashion Week and to support the future generations to develop their skills. We hope this inspires young creative talent to enter a career in tailoring.”
The exhibition at The LAB will include final designs from The Golden Shears 2025 winner, Huntsman apprentice Joanna Spreadbury, who was presented with the award at a ceremony in March 2025.
The Golden Shears Awards, founded in 1974 by Robert Bright, MBE, are held every two years and unite skilled fashion students and apprentice tailors, providing a platform to showcase their creative vision and technical excellence.
