Sarah Curran, former managing director of Very Exclusive, has joined luxury boutique fashion brand Richards Radcliffe as non-executive chairman.

Curran, who made her name in fashion as the founder of the premium e-commerce business My-Wardrobe.com and who was awarded an MBE for services to fashion in 2013, is also a non-executive director at fashion chain French Connection.

Her appointment at the brand, which was founded in 2014, by fashion creative directors Tess Richards and Kat Radcliffe, comes as it makes the move into wholesale this autumn. The brand, which is now under the sole helm of Tess Richards, is sold online, via private sales and a custom made-to-order service.

“Richards Radcliffe is an exciting brand offering a fantastic range of beautifully designed pieces in luxury fabrics. I feel there is a huge opportunity for me to help drive business expansion and raise the brand’s awareness within the luxury fashion arena,” said Curran.

Richards, who has designed for and managed a number of high-profile fashion brands throughout her career, including Jaeger, Jaeger London, Ghost and Jigsaw, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Sarah as Non-Executive Chairman. Her breadth of knowledge and experience will enable the brand to deliver on its exciting ambitions of growth and expand its online capabilities.”

Curran left Very Exclusive, which she had launched for the Shop Direct group, in July of last year after four years with the business. She was subsequently appointed as non-executive director at French Connection in September.

2 days ago by theindustryfashion It is five years to the day since the Rana Plaza disaster in Bangladesh in which more than 1,100 garments workers were killed when an unsafe building collapsed. The global movement for greater transparency in fashion,  @fash_rev , has unveiled a series of initiatives and campaigns this week to encourage consumers to question where their clothing comes from, including a beautiful movie showing garment workers dancing with the clothes they make. The film points out the injustices still suffered by garment workers globally and ends with asking viewers to demand to know from brands and retailers  #whomademyclothes  It makes poignant viewing

3 days ago by theindustryfashion adidas and Reebok have been once again named the most transparent brands in fashion, according to the  @fash_rev  Transparency Index, which was published today. This year's index also showed an increasing trend towards transparency among the fashion industry as a whole, including among those in the luxury sector. Transparency about suppliers and supply chain is the first vital step towards identifying and resolving any issues there may be in terms of environmental practices and abuses of human rights.
