Samantha Cameron's Cefinn raises a further £2.5m in funding

Samantha Cameron's fashion label Cefinn, which she launched in February 2017, has raised a further £2.5m in funding to drive further growth.

Backers in the last funding round, which was said to have been heavily oversubscribed, include Wendy Yu, of Hong-Kong based Yu Holdings, who also has stakes in sustainable accessories brand Bottletop and British-based designer Mary Katrantzou's label.

Other backers include entrepreneur and philanthropist David Brownlow's Havisham Investments, and Philip Bassett, founder of investment firm Brightwell Partners. Its original backer Venrex, which also invests in Charlotte Tilbury, has also made a further investment.

The news comes after reports in January of this year that Cameron had raised a further £400,000 from unnamed backers, taking the total raised at that time to £770,000.

Cefinn has been well received since its launch for tapping into a gap for accessibly priced contemporary style for the modern working woman. The style is drawn heavily from Cameron's own look with smart, but relaxed, day dresses anchoring the collection, typically in styles that hit just below the knee.

The collection also includes separates and outwear and it is understood the latest round of funding will be used to support international growth and logistics infrastructure.

Cefinn is sold on its own website and via a number of high profile wholesale accounts including Selfridges, Net-A-Porter.com, Fenwick and Matchesfashion.com.
