River Island unveils regional flagship at centre:mk

High street fashion chain River Island has opened its upsized regional flagship store at centre:mk in Milton Keynes.

Located at 40-42 Midsummer Arcade, the new store was designed by an in-house team to reflect the brand’s latest shop-fit and now covers 20,000 sq ft, selling both men's and womenswear.

Speaking on behalf of centre:mk joint owners, Hermes Investment Management and AustralianSuper, Ed Sellick, said the store would boost the offering of "affordable on-trend" fashion at the centre and said there would be more to come in the next 12 months.

centre:mk has received significant investment from Herms and AustralianSuper in the past two years, including the recently completed £10m refurbishment of Sunset Walk, and the Deer Walk customer experience services which were unveiled to the public in June 2017.

River Island's upsizing comes on the back of a string of new brands arriving at the centre in the past 12 months including Footasylum, Pravins, Tessuti, Scotts, Acutis, Beauty Base, JD Sports and Molton Brown. Last autumn it was revealed that Primark had signed for a 75,000 sq ft store, which represents the largest letting in the centre's 25-year history.

Ashleigh Skinner of River Island said: “centre:mk is one of our top performing locations in the UK. Our decision to upsize here was an easy one to make following the impressive amount of investment at the destination, in addition to the centre’s strong surrounding catchment and excellent line-up of neighbouring brands.”
