Singer, entrepreneur and designer Rihanna has launched her first vegan leather line, under her brand name Fenty.

The line features a range of items including an oversized shirt, hoodie, and corset skirt, all utilising vegan leather.

To celebrate the launch of the collection, Fenty partnered with London-based artist Rosanna Webster to highlight the garments silhouettes in contrast to its soft texture.

Describing the vegan collection, the brands writes that the “faux leather capsule offers an alternative view of the 2-20 release in an innovative new fabric and elegant new colour palette."

“The tough, protective connotations of leather and striking silhouettes of uniforms are combined with the soft, rippling faux leather to give a relaxed Fenty feel – this juxtaposition speaks to the Fenty DNA of contrasts, rebelliousness, and redefined luxury.”

Fenty's new vegan leather capsule collection comes at a time when other mainstream fashion brands are also launching vegan clothing.

Last month, Primark became the first fast fashion retailer in the world to receive a vegan certification for its clothing, shoes and bags from TÜV Rheinland Group.

The British Retail Consortium introduced new voluntary guidelines in February, suggesting that only fashion items that contain an alternative to products that would otherwise have been derived from animals should have a vegan label.

The full collection can be seen on the Fenty website.
