Richemont launches digital sharing platform to prevent jewellery theft

Richemont has launched a digital platform to assist the global luxury industry in preventing watch and jewellery theft.

The new digital platform, named Enquirus, is open to all luxury brands for the sharing of information. All data shared on the platform is used to facilitate the identification of lost and stolen items, making it more difficult to resale and purchase stolen pieces.

Enquirus was designed in collaboration with partners including watch and jewellery manufacturers, law enforcement agencies, insurance companies, as well as the pre-owned market and clients.

Jérôme Lambert, CEO of Richemont, commented: "This reliable solution brings together multiple stakeholders to serve customers and the entire industry, by facilitating borderless cooperation between police forces and insurance partners.

"By providing free access for customers and industry partners, the opportunity to sell stolen watches becomes more prohibitive, with the ultimate objective of reducing the incentive to steal watches in the first place."

Working in three easy steps, watch and jewellery owners as well as industry partners can register, declare and search for lost or stolen luxury pieces.

The three steps are as follows:

1. Create an account and register your collection using the brand and serial numbers
2. Upload documentation in the secure digital vault
3. Report lost or stolen pieces

The intelligent ecosystem of the platform features 175 luxury watch brands and several top jewellery brands.  Richemont Maisons are already pre-loaded into the database, making registration easier for individuals and businesses.

Over 28,000 pieces have already been registered lost or stolen in the database.

Frank Vivier, Chief Transformation Officer for Richemont, added: "We have listened to our customers and developed Enquirus, as part of our suite of customer services, to help them protect their watches and jewellery.

"Our goal is to bring onboard as many industry players as possible, as well as the Police Departments of all the major cities in the world, to make Enquirus the largest international database of lost and stolen watches and jewellery."
