Richemont appoints two sustainability-focused execs
Luxury group Richemont is championing sustainability with the appointment of two new executives with years of experience in the field.
Bram Schot has been nominated by the group for election to the Board of Directors, subject to the approval of shareholders at its upcoming AGM on 6 September 2023.
Serving as Non-Executive Director, Schot will bring his experience from various management positions across the premium automotive industry. This includes Chairman and CEO of the Board of Management at Audi, where he initiated the transition to electrification and gained an "deep understanding" of sustainability issues.
Schot is currently a Non-Executive Director at Shell, where he is also a member of the Safety, Environmental and Sustainability Committee.
The announcement coincides with the appointment of Bérangère Ruchat to the group's Senior Executive Committee in her capacity as Chief Sustainability Officer.
Ruchat was first appointed as CSO a year ago, bringing expertise in the field of sustainability and collaborative work across business, governments and NGOs. She joined Richemont from Firmenich, where she drove the fragrance and taste company's sustainability strategy during her 12-year tenure.
Johann Rupert, Chairman of Richemont, said: “I would like to warmly welcome Bram to the board. He brings unparalleled managerial experience and expertise in client-centricity, technology, sustainability, innovation, and risk management to help reach our objective of achieving long term profitable, responsible and sustainable growth.
“I am also delighted to have Bérangère Ruchat join Richemont’s Senior Executive Committee. In just twelve months, Bérangère has significantly contributed to strengthening Richemont’s sustainability strategy, further raising the group’s understanding of sustainability and ESG reporting and compliance matters."
