Retail Recap: The important openings and partnerships of June 2024
As June came to a close, and the weather finally began to warm up, the retail sector reflected on an overall positive month. Superdry's creditors approved its turnaround plan, meanwhile, the UK awaits Shein's £50 billion float.
There have been a string of positive trading updates from companies such as Inditex, N Brown Group and Matalan.

Store Openings
Lululemon doubled Covent Garden store, creating 'hub' for local community
The Canadian activewear brand Luluemon has moved to a larger, 8,330 sq ft space on Long Acre within The Yards, Covent Garden. The move marks a 130% increase on the brand’s previous store space in the iconic shopping destination.
Abercrombie and its 'curve love' range is heading to East London's Spitalfields
Abercrombie & Fitch has proven that it is back with a bang after revealing sales were up by 22% to £790 million during Q1. This month, the brand announced it is expanding its horizons and targeted a broader millennial audience with a new store in Spitalfields Market, opening in August 2024.
Missoma to open second UK store at Victoria Leeds
Contemporary demi-fine jewellery brand Missoma is to open a new flagship store at the Victoria Leeds shopping centre this summer, adding to its first permanent UK store which opened at 46 Monmouth Street in London in November 2023.
Castore opened a flagship store at Centre:MK
British sportswear brand Castore opened an 865 sq ft flagship store in Silbury Arcade at the Centre:MK shopping centre, marking its regional debut in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire.
Quiz opened “premium” upsized flagship store at Manchester’s Trafford Centre
Womenswear retailer Quiz opened a new 2,500 sq ft flagship store at Manchester’s Trafford Centre, a relocation and upsize from its previous unit at the shopping destination.
Adidas opened first ‘Pulse’ premium UK store
Sportswear giant Adidas brought its premium retail concept, dubbed 'The Pulse', to the UK on Friday 28 June. Shoppers can browse Adidas’ range from trainers and gym wear to running gear and accessories.
Reserved continued its expansion with a new Westfield London store
Polish retailer Reserved opened its fifth London store at Westfield, White City, accompanied by a new out-of-home marketing campaign as it continues its expansion in the city. The opening sees the brand launch its ‘Welcome to the Club’ collection, inspired by British heritage sports clubs.
Alo Yoga to land in Covent Garden’s Seven Dials
Luxury activewear and lifestyle brand Alo Yoga is set to open a 5,000 sq ft store at 25a Neal Street, on the corner of Earlham Street in Covent Garden’s Seven Dials.
Footasylum to open first Aberdeen store as it continues UK expansion
Footasylum is opening a new store in Aberdeen’s Union Square shopping centre, which will see 30 new jobs created across management, full-time and part-time roles.
Belstaff planned retail roll-out and will test with pop-ups in key territories
Belstaff, which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year, has revealed a three-year strategic plan to open stores in different territories, using pop-ups as testing grounds to find the best locations.
Goodhood headed to East London with a new store
Cult-favourite lifestyle brand Goodhood unveiled its bricks-and-mortar presence at 15 Hanbury Street, between Spitalfields Market and Brick Lane in East London.
Scotch & Soda reopened its Carnaby Street store
Scotch & Soda has reopened its store at 13-14 Carnaby Street in London, a year on from its closure following the brand’s acquisition out of administration by New York-based brand management company, Bluestar Alliance.
Uniqlo to join the retail mix at London’s Coal Drops Yard
Uniqlo is gearing up to open a new 12,000 sq ft flagship store at Coal Drops Yard in London’s King’s Cross this autumn. It has been described as the destination’s “most significant retail deal since 2018”, which was when it opened.
Partnerships
Bonmarché launched inside Co-op in a new partnership
The two retailers announced that Bonmarché will be launching within the Co-op, starting with Northgate in Louth, Lincolnshire. The 3,000 sq ft Bonmarché store will be introduced as part of a 12-week programme of works and improvements at the branch.
In Pictures: M&S unveiled Sienna Miller design collaboration collection
Marks & Spencer unveiled a new collection designed in collaboration with British actress Sienna Miller, which launched online and in 30 selected M&S stores on 6 June 2024.
Vestiaire Collective partnered with the repair and alteration platform Sojo
Luxury resale platform, Vestiaire Collective, partnered with clothing repair and alteration service, Sojo, so that customers can make purchases with the knowledge that they can quickly and easily get adjustments if needed.
AllSaints translated grunge to kidswear in partnership with Next
In celebration of its 30th anniversary, AllSaints, the premium British brand renowned for its grungy aesthetic, announced five licensed product ranges. This saw the launch of a kidswear line dubbed ‘smALLSAINTS’ - pun intended - with Next.
Scamp & Dude and Air & Grace teamed up on “astonishingly comfortable” footwear
Luxury footwear brand Air & Grace and socially-conscious clothing brand Scamp & Dude joined forces on a collaboration that merges "powerful design with astonishing comfort" to "redefine comfort and style in footwear". Claire Burrows, Founder of Air & Grace, and Jo Tutchener Sharp, CEO & Founder of Scamp & Dude, first crossed paths at TheIndustry LIVE.
Debenhams reintroduced Quiz to its fashion offering
High-street fashion brand, Quiz, relaunched online at Debenhams for the first time since the retail giant collapsed into administration in 2020. Over 600 Quiz products - from evening dresses to everyday casualwear - have launched online at Debenhams as part of the new collaboration.
Monsoon decided to take the rental route by partnering with MyWardrobe for bridal and occasion wear
Monsoon launched a new partnership with clothing rental business MyWardrobe to offer customers a capsule collection of bridalwear and occasion dresses to hire – just in time for the peak wedding season.
Bond-eye revealed the second drop of its collaboration collection with Georgia Fowler
Selfridges brought tenniscore back with Lacoste's help
Selfridges London teamed up with French sportswear brand Lacoste to confirm that tennis core is still all the rage when it comes to summer dressing. The partnership champions a summer of tennis, with Lacoste making itself at home on the second-floor atrium at Selfridges.
SilkFred hired an in-house wedding expert to meet occasion wear demand
Womenswear e-tailer SilkFred partnered with Wedding Planner, Coordinator and Expert, Georgie Mitchell. Mitchell, who has previously written for SilkFred's blog, will create a monthly edit to cater for its increase in occasion wear demand.
ASOS created bold genderless capsule with LGBTQIA+ artists for Pride month
ASOS collaborated with four LGBTQIA+ artists to create an inclusive capsule collection to provide a platform for queer creatives and shine a spotlight on under-represented voices during Pride month.
