Retail Executives, the new fashion and retail recruiter, is establishing a Retail Advisory division and has appointed former Very Exclusive managing director Sarah Curran-Usher as its head.

Curran-Usher, who is a non-executive director at French Connection and chairman of premium womenswear brand Richards Radcliffe, will be in charge of setting up and establishing the new division which will offer companies both small and large, access to a panel of industry experts for consultation, whether it is for an hour or a few months.

Managing partner of Retail Executives Richard Hollister said the division was set up as companies were often seeking advice on retail business issues but were not sure of where to go.

He described the appointment of Curran-Usher, as "an inspirational hire"." Sarah has vast experience in luxury fashion, digital and importantly for the business will be our ‘disruptor’. Taking to pieces the recruitment industry sacred cows, breaking the china eggs and building a recruitment service anew from the modern customer’s requirements," Hollister said.

Chairman of Retail Executives, Darren Topp, who is also the former CEO of BHS and LK Bennett, added: "Sarah is an outstanding appointment. The combination of both her corporate and entrepreneurial skills will be a real asset to the group as we begin to build a new future in retail recruitment and consultancy."

Curran-Usher began her career at The Times before entering fashion retail as the owner of a small boutique in London and then subsequently founding my-wardrobe.com. She went on to establish Very Exclusive for Shop Direct, which she left last July before taking on her current roles at French Connection and Richards Radcliffe.

"I am thrilled to be joining Richard, Darren and the team to build this exciting new platform as part of the Retail Executives Group. We will offer something new and innovative to support small to mid sized companies in the retail sector who need to engage the expertise of advisors within our network," she said of her appointment.

The move is the second high-profile appointment for Hollister, a veteran of recruitment who established his business this year. Topp's appointment was revealed last month and more senior industry hires are promised in the coming weeks.
