Digital fashion house Republiqe and French accessory retailer Monnier Paris have teamed up to launch a virtual store for Decentraland’s Metaverse Fashion Week (MVFW).

Taking place from 24 March through to 27 March, the show will be the world’s first fashion week to take place in the metaverse, located in the Decentraland's luxury fashion district.

Coach, Axel Arigato and Ester Manas are among the brands to confirm their participation in the virtual store alongside Wandler, Eyts and Osoi. Republiqe, who have created five of their own bespoke outfits to sit in the store, will also work closely with the brands to turn their physical accessories into virtual metaverse ready wearables.

James Gaubert, Founder of Republiqe explained: "If you’re confused about how a Metaverse Fashion Week might take place. The team at Decentraland are building what is essentially a virtual world, where each virtual store will sit within a specific fashion district."

"As well as the digital stores, there will also be virtual catwalks, where physical fashion brands can showcase their latest digital collections. Visitors will also have the opportunity to purchase NFTs and attende e-talks and seminars; it’s expected to be much bigger than Decentraland’s Deadmau5 concert, which attracted more than 40,000 virtual visitors."

To get involved with MVFW, visitors will need to create an account with Decentraland, allowing users to be able to explore the entire show. These shows and talks will all be running to a schedule, which is due to be released in the next couple of weeks.

The virtual shop will be open 24 hours throughout the duration of the week, allowing visitors to walk in, view and purchase any of the designer apparel.

Giovanna Graziosi Casimiro, Metaverse Producer at Decentraland said: "Our aim with Metaverse Fashion Week is to show brands what can be done in the world of virtual fashion. We want Decentraland to be a destination for shopping, where users can buy virtual clothing from some of fashion’s biggest names in the industry."

Gaubert concluded: "It’s a huge opportunity to be working alongside such credible names in the fashion industry, helping them to dip their toes into the world of virtual fashion for the very first time; it’s a real indication of where this industry is heading. The lines between reality and virtual reality are far more blurred than ever before, and as our society radically transforms, we look forward to creating experiences and opportunities for a new generation of metaverse-ready consumers, as the leading digital fashion company of Web3.0."
