Rental platform Hirestreet adds new brands in time for Christmas

Rental platform Hirestreet, which focuses on making premium fashion accessible and affordable to all consumers has launched new partner brands.

In time for Christmas, it has added Next-owned Lipsy, sustainability-focused Nobody’s Child, Australian-brand Lexi, and maternity brand Frugi to the site, offering an edit of party dresses and more.

The platform announced its collaboration with M&S last month, steadily increases its number of partner brands which previously ranged around 60 brands including ASOS and French Connection.

Hirestreet commented that “the move by these brands into rental is reflective of the wider dynamic across the fashion industry, where temporary access models are expected to become a major part of the market.”

“Brands are moving early in order to take advantage of the booming consumer demand, with 2 out of 3 Brits intending to use clothing rental platforms during the holiday season, driven by a desire for choice and newness but in a sustainable way.”

As Hirestreet founder Isabella West explained in a recent interview with TheIndustry.Fashion, renting clothing has a significantly lower environmental impact and is also better for the customer’s wallet.

Renting results in significantly less emissions compared to buying an item to wear once, or even twice. Renting is a more sustainable, greener way to consume fashion – and to align with climate change goals, 1 in 5 garments need to be consumed via the circular model.
