Reiss plans phased re-openings
Reiss has announced a phased re-opening of its stores beginning with 26 locations, including standalone stores and outlets, from 15 June.
The premium men's and womenswear retailer announced the move following the re-opening of a select number of its stores across Europe, which had been shuttered due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
In accordance with Government guidelines it has introduced a raft of new safety measures aimed at preventing the spread of coronavirus, including PPE for staff, additional cleaning, a preference for cashless payments, limited fitting room usage and reduced trading hours (11am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and 11am to 5pm Sunday) to allow staff to travel to and from work safely.
Strict garment sanitation processes have been introduced for items that are tried on or returned. In fitting rooms, which will be disinfected after each use, customers will be provided with optional face coverings and any product tried on will be steam cleaned by a staff member wearing gloves, wrapped in plastic and kept in quarantine for 24 hours. Pop socks will be provided for customers trying on shoes.
Returns will also be steam cleaned using the same process as tried-on items but will be kept in quarantine for 72 hours before being placed back on sale.
CEO Christos Angelides said the company had been working on a phased re-opening plan for a number of weeks and had benefitted from key learnings from re-opening stores in Europe. The company has also been working with an independent body to ensure all guidelines are met.
"Reiss stores will be carefully managed in accordance with the latest health and safety guidelines to ensure the utmost safety of our staff and customers. We have been encouraged by the Reiss stores that have re-opened in Europe where the reaction from customers has been very positive when shopping the new collection.
"We have transferred key learnings from our European teams and customers to ensure a safe, robust and enjoyable experience in the UK. We very much look forward to welcoming our customers back through our doors on 15 June," Angelides said.
The stores included in phase one are below. Phase two of the plan will follow in a few weeks' time. Reiss operates around 234 points of sale globally with approximately 53 standalone stores in the UK.
