Fashion’s loss is a win for textiles as the designer’s ongoing collaboration with the Danish firm Kvadrat is producing some of his best work yet.

I was half expecting to find Raf Simons in an introspective frame of mind in the early months of 2019. The previous year had not ended well for the Belgian fashion designer, who had been lured to New York in 2016 to revive the famous but financially flatlining house of Calvin Klein.
