Primark stores to host pop-up vaccine clinics as government targets youth hotspots

Primark stores are among a number of locations to host pop-up vaccine clinics as the Government targets youth hotspots to drive vaccine uptake among the young.

The value fashion retailer's stores in the Broadmead Shopping Centre, Bristol, and at the Trinity shopping centre in Leeds will host the clinics, which will also be located at the Tate Modern and the golf Open Championship in Sandwich, Kent.

With the heatwave hitting this weekend, a number of parks across the country, including in Greenwich, London and Sefton, Liverpool, will host the clinics.

The clinics form part of the Government's "Grab a Jab" initiative as it has revealed that more than a third of young adults in England have not had a first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.

According to NHS England 64% of people aged 18 to 29 had received a first dose as of 11 July 11, meaning 36% are likely to be unvaccinated.

An online web tool will make bookings easier from today, allowing people to find their nearest vaccination centre by inputting their postcode.

To date some 85% of all adults (38m people) across the UK have received at least one Covid-19 vaccine.
