PrettyLittleThing criticised on social media for selling fishnet face mask
PrettyLittleThing has been criticised on social media for selling a fishnet diamante face mask which has been branded as “useless”.
The fast fashion online retailer listed the diamante fishnet mask on Monday, following the announcement from the Government that face masks will be made mandatory in stores across the UK from 24 July.
Experts advise that the use of face masks can help to limit the spread of COVID-19, as they block water droplets from spraying while coughing or sneezing.
The masks in question provide no protection from water vapour or droplets, with consumers questioning the ethics behind capitalising on the mandatory accessory.

@OfficialPLT as a fashion brand that influences young people, who will more likely be a-symptomatic & not know they’re spreading the virus, do you think this was responsible? If it’s to wear over a mask. Show it worn over a mask. https://t.co/AIhQgD4UBD

PrettyLittleThing has now removed the £10 face masks from sale on its website, after consumers took to social media to ridicule the product and criticise the sensitivity.
The company is yet to respond to any questions or criticism regarding the masks on social media currently.
Peter Cowgill, Executive Chair of the FTSE 100 company JD Sports, said the Government’s rule that face coverings should be worn in shops would probably prove a “turn off” for its teenagers and twenty-somethings buyers.
