Pre-fall 18 trend-to-go: Cosy and cool

It looks like one of the top accessory items for pre-fall 18 (and most likely beyond) is the uber cool but oh-so-cosy retro scarf. This 70s staple is clearly channelling Ali McGraw in Love Story but this time round it’s more than a college boho look.

Teamed with urban casualwear, office looks or even warm-weather dresses, it’s a take-it anywhere piece that’s big enough to double up where once a pashmina might have been called into play when late summer evenings start to cool.

The key is to make sure it’s as long as possible. That’s L.O.N.G. Wrapping it round too many times is a definite no-no, although it’s nowhere near as bad as … well, you know,that favourite scarf tie technique that’s the go-to option for just about every metrosexual these days.

As well as long, these new scarves need to be chunky and multicoloured, fringed (the more the merrier), and even if they come in wovens, an on-trend check is the very least you should expect on the pattern front.
