Poundland launches first schoolwear range since becoming a top 20 clothing retailer

Poundland has announced the launch of its first back-to-school range since it became a top 20 clothing retailer, attributed to the growth in popularity of its PEP&CO brand.

The new range offers value on many schoolwear essentials such as polo shirts from £1, trousers and skirts from £3 and a seven sock pack from £2.

Poundland became a UK top 20 clothing retailer this year following the rollout of its PEP&CO clothing brand which now has almost 400 shop-in-shops across the UK – helping to fill the gap left by household names that have retreated from the high street.

It is the latest chapter in the growth story for Pep&Co, which was originally launched as a single standalone store in Kettering in Summer 2015. The brand still operates 13 standalone stores, but the its' growth was turbocharged when it joined the Poundland family.

Over the past year, Poundland has been increasing the amount of space dedicated to childrenswear, including school uniforms. The new schoolwear range will be available in those Poundland stores with a full PEP&CO shop-in-shop.

Poundland’s Commercial Director Tim Bettley said: “We’re devoting more space than ever to back-to-school ranges in clothes and stationery and after the past 18 months we know that value for money has never been more important to our customers.

“Parents love our school wear and we’ve got a growing reputation for amazing value and great quality so they can have confidence that it will wear and wash well.”

Pepco Group, owners of the Pep&Co and Dealz brands in mainland Europe and Poundland in the UK, recently reported strong like-for-like group revenue growth for the three months to 30 June 2021.
