Pitti Uomo and Milan Fashion Week Men’s to be pushed back in January 2021

28 January 2020

Following lower footfall and some unhappy exhibitors at the Pitti Uomo trade fair earlier this month, due in large part to the unusually early start date of 7 January, the organisers have announced that the 99th edition of the show will take place at the later date of 12-15 January 2021, with Milan Fashion Week pushed back to 16-19 January.

The announcement has been made jointly by Pitti Immagine and CNMI, the Italian Fashion Chamber, and is likely to please industry professionals who thought that the 7 January start of this month's Pitti Uomo was far too close to the end of Christmas holiday, also coinciding with the start of the end-of-season Sales period in Italy.

The new dates should impact positively on attendance from buyers at the Pitti Uomo January 2021 show. Organisers said that the January 2020 show had experienced a 10% drop in footfall, but it had attracted 21,400 buyers of which 8,300 had travelled from abroad. Pitti Uomo is considered to be the pre-eminent menswear trade show in the world.
