Pinterest has unveiled its annual not-yet-trending report, revealing the fashion aesthetics set to dominate wardrobes in 2026. From maximalist ’80s glamour to khaki-coded utility dressing, next year’s style landscape is shaping up to be bolder, shinier and more expressive than ever - with Gen Z and Millennials leading the charge.

Brooched: Vintage pins return as statement accessories

Brooches are back, and they’re not here to whisper. Searches for "brooch aesthetic" are up 110%, while "maximalist accessories" have climbed 105%, signalling a resurgence in heirloom-inspired styling. Pinterest predicts that Boomer and Millennial men will lead the revival, adorning suits, ties and even socks with vintage pins and crystal clip-ons. In 2026, sentimental sparkle is the new flex.

Glamoratti: '80s opulence makes a comeback

The decade of decadence is trending again as searches for "80s luxury" soar 225%. Think sculpted shoulders, baggy power suits and chunky, gleaming jewellery. Gen Z and Millennials are driving this glamorous resurgence, with interest in "baggy suit" looks up 90% and "gold cuff" searches up 50%. For 2026, bigger is undeniably better.

Khaki Coded: Utility goes global explorer

Adventure-core takes centre stage as fashion leans into rugged practicality. Searches for "brown linen shirt" have surged 100%, "field jacket outfit men" is up 65%, and "utility shirt" is rising 45%. Pinterest notes that Gen Z and Millennials are embracing an aesthetic inspired by wanderers and palaeontologists — think pockets, desert-ready neutrals and gear built for the great outdoors.

Laced Up: Unexpected lace details elevate everyday style

Lace is no longer reserved for lingerie or bridalwear. In 2026, the delicate textile is infiltrating streetwear and accessories, with "lace nails" searches up 215% and "lace bandana" up 150%. Expect bomber jackets with lace collars, crocheted phone cases and soft, romantic textures woven into casual outfits.

Wilderkind: Animal-inspired outfits, but make it delicate

Pinterest predicts a softer take on animal aesthetics next year. Rather than bold prints, Gen Z and Boomers are gravitating toward gentle, whimsical interpretations - "animal-inspired outfits" are up 90%, while "flower outfit men" has climbed 105%. Think fox-toned layering, butterfly motifs and earthy palettes that feel more enchanted than wild.

Cool Blue: Subzero style takes over

In a cross-category surge spanning fashion, beauty and celebrations, icy tones are set to freeze out the competition. "Icy blue" searches have risen 50%, while "glacier aesthetic" is up 35%. Expect frosted outerwear, steel-blue tailoring and accessories that channel subzero elegance.

Extra Celestial: Space-age silhouettes and opalescent finishes

Cosmic fashion is on the rise, with "opalescent" searches increasing 115%, and "alien core aesthetic" up 80%. Pinterest says intergalactic style will influence metallic outerwear, holographic details and futuristic shapes.

Poetcore: Romantic academia returns

Oversized knitwear, wool coats and satchel bags are on track to define the year ahead, with "the poet aesthetic" up 175% and "tie accessories" up 85%. This wordy, wistful trend blends academia with vintage elegance - perfect for anyone who wants to look like they’ve stepped out of a bookshop in 1978.

Throwback Kid: Nostalgia meets kidswear

Fashion isn’t just for adults - "vintage kids fashion" searches have climbed 35%, while "nostalgia toys" are up 225%. Gen X and Boomers are leading this cosy revival, favouring upcycled baby outfits, crocheted play mats and ’70s-inspired prints.
