Pentland Group posts revenues up 10% at £2.4bn
Pentland Group, the parent group of a host of outdoor, sports and fashion brands such as Hunter Boot, Heidi Klein, Ellesse, Speedo and Boxfresh, has posted total group revenues up 10% for the year ending 31 December 2015 at £2.4bn. Group operating profit was up 36% to £220m (2014: £161m).
The group attributed the strong performance to continued international development of its brands, as well as an "outstanding" performance from retailer JD Sports in which it owns a 57% stake.
Further highlights for the year included "record-breaking" performances at rugby brand Canterbury, thanks to the recent Rugby World Cup, and at Ted Baker Footwear, which achieved double-digit growth.
Its Speedo brand, which had a strong 2015, is expected to be boosted further by the Rio Olympics in which a number of swimmers are expected to compete in the brand (Team GB however will be in Adidas by Stella McCartney).
Footwear brand Kickers enjoyed another year of strong performance in 2015, said Pentland, thanks to a number of special campaigns including the Kickhi 40th Anniversary Project, the Kickers x Star Wars and Kickers x Danielle Romeril SS16 collaborations.
