Pantone characterises 2022 with Very Peri Colour of the Year

Global colour authority Pantone has today announced its colour for 2022, Very Peri (Pantone 17-3938), described as "displaying a carefree confidence and a daring curiosity that animates our creative spirit".

The striking blue shade is a dramatic move on from the 2021 shades of Illuminating (yellow) and Ultimate Gray (grey), but Pantone has deemed it the appropriate colour to display a "spritely, joyous attitude and dynamic presence"

The Pantone Colour of the Year selection process requires thoughtful consideration and trend analysis. To arrive at the selection each year, Pantone’s colour experts at the Pantone Colour Institute comb the world looking for new colour influences. These can include the entertainment industry and films in production, traveling art collections and new artists, fashion, all areas of design, popular travel destinations, as well as new lifestyles and socio-economic conditions.

For 23 years, Pantone’s Colour of the Year has influenced product development and purchasing decisions in multiple industries, including fashion, home furnishings, and industrial design, as well as product packaging and graphic design.
