Pangaia reveals carbon reduction goals

Camilla Rydzek
23 February 2022

Sustainable clothing brand Pangaia said it is committed to reaching net-zero operations by 2025 and shared its goal to becoming net-zero carbon by 2040.

Pangaia's science-based targets (SBTs) see the company powered by 100% renewable energy and reach net zero operations by 2025. By 2030 it pledges to a 50% reduction in emissions, and by 2040 it aims to become net zero carbon.

In order to reach these reductions, Pangaia said that it will go beyond carbon offsetting to find active reduction solutions through its scientific and collaborative business model, such as working with suppliers to transition to renewable energy, investing in material science innovations to develop lower emissions products, and supporting carbon-sinking projects.

The company's announcement coincides with the release of a short film that illustrates Pangaia’s ethos of ‘high-tech naturalism’ and its positioning as a Nature-As-A-Solution company.

Pangaia was founded in 2019 and has quickly become recognised as a market leader by bringing problem-solving science to life, and leveraging its position of sitting at the  intersection of science, purpose and design. The company's innovation efforts saw it launch a gender-neutral denim collection made out of himalayan nettles in October and a collaboration with robotics and digital apparel company unspun to create custom jeans on demand.

The brand will share further progress about the 2021 Impact Report in March 2022.
