Heritage French footwear brand Palladium celebrates its 75th anniversary this year with three capsule collections for SS22 that explore the brand’s archive, updating the designs which have helped define the brand’s unmistakable silhouettes.

The utility-inspired footwear brand, which was founded in 1947 and famously supplied the French Foreign Legion, has dived into its often forgotten sporting legacy with a reinvented version of the ‘Palla Louvel’, first introduced for tennis, football and basketball in 1951, and produced up until the 1980’s.

With its timeless minimalist design, a modern iteration of the key archive style is introduced to the ‘75th Anniversary pack’ - including a lightweight and durable canvas upper providing extra comfort and flexibility, along with an added rubber toe cap to prevent wear and tear. The canvas sneaker is available in a high-top edition with an off-white rubber outsole, referencing Palladium’s take on the 1950’s classic. It comes in a selection of original colourways; bold red, yellow and blue, classic khaki and black and white.

Paying homage to Palladium’s birth year, next comes the collector’s edition of the iconic ‘Pallabrousse’ silhouette, of which only a limited quantity of 1947 pairs have been produced, featuring a premium canvas finish, and emblazoned with a ‘75 Years of Exploration’ slogan across the ankle. Coming in an archive inspired sand colourway, each boot also features a blue, white, and red heel tab - a nod to the French flag and Palladium’s homeland.

As one of the original pioneers of sustainable footwear, the third incarnation for the 75h anniversary celebrations is the classic ‘Pampa’ silhouette, re-born this season as the ‘Pampa Eco-versary’, which features an all-over earth print, pulled from Palladium’s vast design archive. It’s a print that originally featured on the brand's first ever sustainable boot created in the 1990’s.

Alongside the brand’s ‘Ticket to Earth’ SS22 campaign, Palladium will also be unveiling a series of short films to celebrate the anniversary, as well as “never seen archive content” and an exclusive event to commemorate its 75th year – “looking to the past to shape the brand’s future”.

The three capsule collections will launch throughout March 2022 and, in keeping with the brands mission to encourage exploration, Palladium will introduce a series of limited-edition collaborations throughout the year, as yet to be announced.
