Oscar de la Renta Creative Directors to exit
Oscar de la Renta’s co-Creative Directors, Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia, are stepping down after nearly a decade at the helm of the luxury fashion house.
The designer duo announced their departure on Wednesday via a joint Instagram post, citing a desire to focus fully on their own label, Monse.
"With a heavy heart Laura Kim and myself want to let the world know we are completing our time at Oscar de la Renta next February and after are putting all out focus on Monse," Garcia said.
"It was a decision that came with much contemplation, and while it is sad, it is also exciting as we begin new chapters next year."
Kim and Garcia were appointed co-creative directors of Oscar de la Renta in 2016, following the departure of Peter Copping and two years after the passing of the brand’s legendary founder. The pair began their careers at Oscar de la Renta before launching Monse in 2015 and briefly working at Carolina Herrera.
Their final collection for Oscar de la Renta will be Fall 2026, set to debut in February. According to an interview with Puck’s Lauren Sherman, the brand’s CEO, Alex Bolen, stated there is no urgency in naming a successor.
Kim and Garcia will then dedicate their efforts to Monse, which recently held its Spring 2025 runway show during New York Fashion Week on 14 September.
