Oliver Brown heads to Cambridge for fifth UK store
Classic British menswear retailer Oliver Brown, often referred to as ‘The Racing Tailors’ due to its long association with race day dress, is opening its fifth UK store at 5 Green Street in Cambridge on 1 April 2026.
Cambridge has been selected for Oliver Brown’s latest store due to its close proximity to Newmarket, “the historic centre of British horse racing”, providing a convenient place to shop and hire for those attending the Guineas Festival and the wider racing season.
The new store is also ideally suited to serve as the place to go for students to dress for graduation ceremonies and the May Ball season, “where black tie and white tie are worn as part of the fabric of the city itself”.
Oliver Brown's story began over 25 years ago with its first store at 75 Lower Sloane Street in Chelsea, from where it has grown into a renowned destination for made-to-measure tailoring and ready-to-wear collections, as well as offering the world's largest selection of top hats.
It has since expanded with stores at 75A Jermyn Street in London’s St James’s, as well as at 66-67 Cornhill in the City of London and at 32 Eastgate Row South in Chester.
Oliver Brown has also dressed Team GB for the Winter Olympics and has served as an official licensee for Royal Ascot.
To mark the Cambridge opening, Oliver Brown is introducing an exclusive single-breasted navy summer blazer in a relaxed silhouette, crafted from a lightweight Vitale Barberis wool-linen blend. It features a half-lined interior, two side vents and reduced shoulder padding, and is described as “ideal for garden parties and summer events”.
Kristian Ferner Robson, founder and owner of Oliver Brown, said: “Cambridge is a city steeped in tradition and ceremony, so it feels like a natural home for Oliver Brown. With its historic universities, remarkable celebrations and our close proximity to Newmarket’s racing heritage, we are delighted to be opening on Green Street and becoming part of the community.”
The Cambridge store will offer ready-to-wear tailoring, made-to-measure garments and formalwear hire, serving students, professionals and “visitors preparing for the occasions that define Cambridge life”.
