Nina Ricci denies reports of Guillaume Henry's departure

Nine Ricci has rebutted reports that creative director Guillaume Henry is leaving the business and that his AW18 collection for the house, to be shown today at Paris Fashion Week, will be his last.

WWD has reported that Henry, who previously headed up Carven, is frustrated that parent company Puig has not invested sufficiently in the label he joined three years ago.

According to WWD the house issued a statement saying the reports were "pure speculation". “House of Nina Ricci refused the news released [yesterday] on the press about the creative director Guillaume Henry leaving Nina Ricci. All the information stated within the news are pure speculation that do not respond to reality,” it said.

Henry succeeded Peter Copping as creative director of Nina Ricci at the beginning of 2015. A graduate of Ecole Supérieure des Arts Appliqués Duperré and the Institut Français de la Mode, Henry held roles at Givenchy and Paule Ka before moving to Carven in 2009 and revamping the historic, but then dormant, house as a contemporary fashion brand.

Couturier Maria "Nina" Ricci founded her eponymous house in 1932 and became famous for her draped, feminine designs. Her son Robert Ricci launched its perfume division in 1941 and it went on to create such globally renowned fragrances as L'Air du Temps.

Ricci passed away in 1970 and a number of big name designers have since led the label including Nathalie Gervais, Lars Nilsson, Olivier Theyskens, Peter Copping and Henry. Spanish fashion and beauty group acquired the business in 1998.
