Sportswear brand Nike has unveiled a laceless Go FlyEase trainers, which the wearer can slip on without bending down.

Using a bistable hinge, the Nike Go FlyEase can transition from the open or “ready” position to the closed or “set” position by stepping in and down on the footbed.

In a statement, Nike said the new design would be "available via invite for select Nike Members" in regions including North America, Japan and Europe from 15 February and would be "available more broadly in the months to come."

Priced at £104.95, the new pair of trainers will come in three colour patterns: a pastel blue, pink and green, a black, red and blue, and a purple, dark green and blue.

The shoe also aligns with Nike's goals for sustainability, with the materials used in the trainer being recyclable into Nike Grind, a post-consumer material/pulp that can be used in a variety of future products.

Paralympic champion fencer Bebe Vio commented: “Usually I spend so much time to get in my shoes. With the Nike Go FlyEase, I just need to put my feet in and jump on it. The shoes are a new kind of technology, not only for adaptive athletes but for everyone's real life.”
