Global sportswear giant Nike continues to tap into the Muslim modestwear market, launching its new Victory Swim collection on 1 February 2020, a modest swimsuit line targeted at Muslim female athletes.

The sleek, innovative silhouette provides a game-changing option for female athletes seeking full coverage and full range of motion in the water. This new collection is an extension of Nike's Pro Hijab, marking the brand’s very first venture into modest swimwear.

The victory collection has been made using breathable and lightweight fabrics such as warp-knit fabric. The ground-breaking swimsuits also offer sun protection as they feature UPF 40+ rating. Nike has used this collection to pursue its ambitious goal to bring performance and innovation together, designing a modest swimwear range.

The collection will include the Nike Victory Full-Coverage Swimsuit, along with swim separate options, the Nike Victory Swim Hijab, the Nike Victory Swim Tunic Top and the Nike Victory Swim Leggings.

Both the Nike Victory Full-Coverage Swimsuit and the Nike Victory Swim Tunic Top have been designed with a built-in sports bra with perforated cups. The Nike Victory Swim Leggings reflect a streamlined yet modest silhouette that enables speed and agility without excessive cling. The Swim Hijab includes an integrated mesh pocket that holds hair in place throughout underwater movement.

Nike recognised there was a gap in the market for well designed and functioning modest swimwear. Designers from Nike continued learning from athletes across different regions across the world that there is a dire need of more swimwear options for female athletes who choose not to compromise between modesty and movement with comfort and confidence.

In 2017, Nike introduced the Pro Hijab with the aim to provide Muslim female athletes and females who take part in sports. Muslim sportswomen finally had a lightweight and flexible hijab available on the global market which was designed to be worn whilst active.

Martha Moore, Nike’s Creative Director, said: "The more we listened, the more possibility we saw to serve female athletes in new dimensions. As we continue broadening our vision for innovation, we’re excited to inspire more women to see themselves in sport by thinking creatively and designing inclusively. To us, Nike Victory Swim Collection shows the power of innovation to invite all women to discover the joy of sport."

Nike is not the first brand to create modest swimwear, Aheda Zanetti, Australian fashion designer became recognised worldwide for creating the burkini. In the UK, modest swimwear brand Lyra Swimwear has also become a popular modest swimwear brand recognised for its stylish yet modest swimwear designs.
