Nicholas Kirkwood creates bespoke retail installation at Selfridges in partnership with WIFE NYC

Luxury footwear designer Nicholas Kirkwood has collaborated with floral design studio WIFE NYC to create a bespoke retail installation concept for the launch of his SS19 collection in Selfridges.Designed by Sophie Parker, the conceptual flower display artist and director at the botanical studio WIFE NYC, the installation will feature an intricate woven display of flowers, monitors and exposed wires, which will help create a sense that the monitors are powered by the plants.

The plant arrangement will be set on a concrete stand and will emerge from the centre of the installation and black cables will look as though they are powering the screen risers by connecting to the central display, digitally animating the installation.

The installation will take a sculptural and minimal approach to floral designs; each arrangement will have a geometric composition and pervasive monochromatic theme of its own. The central screen display will feature a digital overlay of pixelated images, coding, data moshing and digital interlacing.

Nicholas Kirkwood's latest SS19 collection features "exciting new silhouettes" which were featured in the designer's first ever London Fashion Week catwalk show back in September.

The installations will be featured in Selfridges’ Oxford Street flagship store from 16 April until 5 May 2019.
