New Look to open largest concept store at Metrocentre with 'enhanced omnichannel capabilities'
British fashion brand New Look will relocate to a new 11,000 sq ft space inside the Metrocentre in North East England this summer, making this the brand's largest concept store to date.
The new store will feature an expanded range across womenswear, accessories and New Look’s 915 brand, as well as enhanced omnichannel capabilities including click & collect, self-service e-commerce drop-offs, order-in-store showroom elevations, and digital browsing displays.
The rollout of omnichannel retail capabilities is part of a wider £30 million investment in the brand's digital growth and capabilities. A major focus of this spend will be on leveraging data and AI to create hyper-personalised shopping experiences.
This forms part of the brand's larger plans to modernise its store estates across the UK, following the appointment of retail veteran Mark Matthews as its Retail Director to spearhead its next phase of its omnichannel store transformation in December 2025.
New Look has operated a store inside the Metrocentre for 20 years and will now relocate to a larger space within Metrocentre's dedicated fashion hub in the Red Mall.
The news follows the brand's strong performance in its Bluewater concept store, which introduced dedicated service hubs, showroom spaces and enhanced digital features. New Look is now beginning to roll out this enhanced retail format across its store estate, with further concept store openings planned later this year.
The brand has seen "strong" results from its loyalty programme, Club New Look, which surpassed one million members ahead of schedule in February 2026, following its national roll-out in October 2025.
The Metrocentre is located on the bank of the River Tyne in the Dunston area of Gateshead in the North East of England and counts nearly 16 million visitors a year, hosting 270 retail brands. In the Red Mall, New Look will be situated near Zara, River Island and Reiss, as well as Flannels and Sports Direct.
Mark Matthews, Retail Director at New Look, said: "Opening our largest concept store at Metrocentre is an exciting moment for New Look and a strong signal of how we are evolving the role of our stores. As our digital platform and Club New Look loyalty programme continue to grow, we are creating spaces that bring those capabilities to life for customers in-store.
"Our omni-hub format is built to integrate our online strengths with an inspiring retail environment. Following the strong response to our Bluewater concept store, we are now accelerating the rollout of this format across our estate as we continue to invest in stores that support a more connected, omnichannel customer journey."
Ben Cox, Director at Sovereign Centros from CBRE, Asset Managers of Metrocentre, added: "It’s great to see another long-term occupier investing in a latest concept store at Metrocentre. While securing new brands is a key focus for us, we are equally committed to supporting our existing retailers in elevating their offer.
"We’re focused on continually evolving our lineup and ensuring the look & feel is fresh and relevant. This significant investment from New Look is the latest show of confidence in Metrocentre, and the new store will be a fantastic home for them."
