New Look confirms up to 100 head office job cuts
New Look has confirmed it will cut up to 100 jobs at its head offices in London and Weymouth as part of its wider growth plan.
The aim of the restructuring is to ensure that head office functions are optimally aligned to deliver on the company’s strategy.
New Look, which currently employs around 8,000 people, began the consultation process last month, with completion expected by early June.
The changes affect only the support function departments at its London and Weymouth offices, with no impact on store or warehouse staff.
A spokesperson for New Look told TheIndustry.fashion: "As we look to the future and the next stage of our digital growth strategy, we are evaluating the structures of our support functions to ensure we are appropriately set up to meet the needs of our customers.
"Our priority is to support our colleagues through this process. We remain confident in our strategy and take pride in being one of the UK’s leading womenswear retailers, serving our 10 million loyal customers in stores and online."
It comes after New Look recently announced a £30 million capital injection from shareholders to support its digital growth strategy.
As part of this, the company aims to increase its digital orders from £500 million to £1 billion by 2030 and secure a 10% share of the online market by the 2028 financial year.
The cash call came after New Look closed up shop in the Republic of Ireland earlier this year. Despite "undergoing changes" to adapt to the retail landscape, the brand shuttered its doors "due to the challenging market environment, rising costs and weakening consumer demand".
