New Look backtracks on new creative director

Lauretta Roberts
12 September 2017

New Look has revealed that Paula Dumont López will no longer be joining the business as chief creative officer; Dumont López, who is currently at Esprit and was formerly at Zara Basic, had been due to start at the retailer this month.

In a statement the business said: "as the company reviews its buying, merchandising and design priorities, it has decided that Paula Dumont López will no longer join the company. To ensure continuity, Roger Wightman will continue in his current role as chief creative officer.”

The news comes shortly after it was revealed that CEO Anders Kristiansen had left the business after five years following a disappointing set of Q1 results, which saw revenues down -4.4% to £338.7m and underlying profits down more than -60% to £12.1m.

Kristiansen has been replaced on an interim basis by Danny Barrasso, managing director UK & ROI, while a permanent replacement is sought.
